Day 18: Simpson Village to Old Linslade

Fenny Stratford Lock. The very heavy swingbridge, which crosses the lock, had to be swung out of the way first - it can be seen behind this (rather fine!) pair of boats.Meanwhile with his normal crossing unavailable, Jan had to help a stranded dog walker carry his dog and ball launcher over the lock gate

Looking back at the lock with swingbridge securely back in place - dog walkers content

Very sweet cygnets, two on swan-back until she tipped them unceremoniously off

Looks very French - except for the gnome

A lovingly restored 1937 Dawncraft wooden (teak on oak frame) cruiser built in Wroxham on the Norfolk Broads

Another interesting boat name

Converted Dutch barge

...more Dutch barges

We have an audience at this lock, one of 3 at Soulbury. A genial lockkeeper (left, with red hat) helped us up them all.

Final lock of the day

Looking back down the Soulbury locks

Peaceful mooring just before Leighton Buzzard
